This old road goes on forever
just like the sound of goodbye
i'm watching the rain dance in the headlights
wishing this old Mustang could fly

I still hear the screen door slammin'
sounds like thunder in my mind
I still see your ring spinning on the floor
just like these wheels roll through the night

The rear view mirror casts reflections
of a life i left behind
Though these wheels keep spinning round and round and round
I can't drive you from my mind

I saw the lights of Albuquerque
they're so pretty from the west
Yet on the other side of that mountain
it's a forest at best

I know i could have done things different
i'm not saying i didn't try
But i was blind to your struggles
I see things clearer in hindsight
